God is wise and He knows what is best for both an individual
and a nation. He doesn’t withhold that knowledge, but
freely shares it through His Word, and at our peril we choose to ignore
it. We chase empty dreams in the vain
hope that their fulfillment will somehow satisfy us. In our human pride, we think what we know as a nation will make us great, but
if it goes against God’s will, we are doomed to fail; and anytime our nation
fails to respect the Lord we are not becoming more enlightened – we are walking in deeper darkness.
Father, help us to judge our actions and our laws by one
standard only – whether they respect
You and Your Word or not, for anything we do outside of Your will only takes us
farther away from You.
