Isaiah 13-14 "NOTHING is going to happen!"

"Nothing is going to happen!"  That's the mantra of every teenager.  And too many people were saying it in Isaiah's day.  But God was saying differently:

"I have called those warriors to carry out my anger ... This army is coming from a faraway land, from the edge of the horizon [in other words, it wasn't in their field of vision] ... The Lord's day of judging is near; the Almighty is sending destruction ... He will destroy the land and the sinners who live in it ... The Lord says, 'I will punish the world for its evil, and wicked people for their sins.'"

God declared the destruction of Babylon, Philistia, and Assyria while promising the end of toil for the Israelites.  Yet how sure was this of happening?  "When the Lord All-Powerful makes a plan, no one can stop it."

Father, I am so glad I have such a powerful God watching over me.  Despite the turmoil, You are in control, and You jealously love those who are Your own.  Please help us to add to that number.  Protect us from evil, Father.

Your Brother In Christ,
Gary Ford
