In light of recent events in the Middle East, it’s incredible to hear what God’s telling Isaiah. My commentary says that several of the prophecies have already happened, but much of it remains to be fulfilled:
n Damascus will be destroyed (already happened, according to my commentary)
n Uprisings all around the area, with people’s shouting becoming a roar (today?)
n A people who are tall and smooth-skinned, who are feared everywhere, a powerful nation that defeats other nations, with land divided by rivers, comes to Israel’s aid (the U.S.? American Indians were the inhabitants of the U.S. back then, and they are known for their smooth skin
n My commentary says the first 15 verses of chapter 19 describe what is now Egypt’s history since Isaiah wrote this.
n The Lord All-Powerful will raise His hand to strike down Egypt.
n Israel (Judah) will bring fear to Egypt (possibly by possessing nuclear weapons?)
n Five Egyptian cities will speak Hebrew and promise loyalty to the Lord!
n There will be an altar to the Lord in the middle of Egypt and a monument to Him at the border!
n God will show Himself to the Egyptians and they will worship Him (NOT Allah). He will punish them, then heal them.
n A highway with unrestricted passage will be built linking Egypt to Israel, Syria, and possibly Iraq! These nations will join together worshiping God and becoming a blessing to the world!
n My commentary mentions that the events in chapter 20 occurred in 711 B.C.
Father, the world would have to know that You did this if Egypt, Israel, Syria, and Iraq become allies and worship You together! No power on earth could make that happen right now. Show Your power and Your might, Father, so that the world may know that You are capable of so much more than anything we could ever ask or imagine!
Your Brother In Christ,
Gary Ford
