Joshua 2-3 A Prostitute With Faith

All about a prostitute – God had told Joshua to prepare the people to enter the Promised Land – to make themselves holy.  On the other side of the Jordan River, God had caused “a ungodly Gentile who worshipped pagan gods and sol her body for money” to exercise saving faith.  He directed two spied to her home in Jericho, built into the very walls that soon would come crumbling down.  My commentary said, “It’s remarkable how God in His grace uses people we might think could never become His servants.  But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put shame to the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are might; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.’”

Notice the one thing that kept repeating in all of that:  “God has chosen…”

Father, I’m still amazed that You chose me to be Your child and Your servant.  I was one of the foolish.  I am one of the weak.  I felt despised by You, but You loved me nonetheless, just as You did a Gentile prostitute who was to become an ancestress of Your Son in His life on this earth!  Such love You have for us, Father!  Such love!

Your Brother In Christ,

Gary Ford
